    Gina Dubbe and Dr Leslie Apgar share with us how a ob-gyn and an engineer turned entrepreneur became best friends and embarked on a cannabis enterprise that paid off big.

    Gina Dubbe is a serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist. Currently, she serves as the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Greenhouse Wellness, an award winning dispensary in Maryland, and is also Co-Founder of Blissiva, a female focused cannabis line. Dubbé was also the Co-Founder of TheraPearl, a revolutionary hot and cold compress. Her work with TheraPearl led the company to rank on the Inc. 5000 list and she received accolades, including Forbes Magazine's Women Who Built Outstanding Companies.

    Leslie Apgar, MD is a board-certified OBGYN with 17 years of experience in direct patient care. She is also the Co-Founder and Medical Director of Greenhouse Wellness, a medical cannabis dispensary, as well as Co-Founder of Blissiva, a female focused cannabis line. Dr. Apgar is also the Founder of PuraVida, a Maryland-based cosmetic spa and laser center, which continues to thrive well into its tenth year of operation.

    This discussion entails how business interruption, whether caused due to a global pandemic or your own company crisis, can be viewed from three different yet connected angles: Leading with Resiliency, Innovation out of Change, and Culture of Employee Engagement. Reflecting on ideas and practices on an organization’s current and future foundations, especially its people— we will take a deeper look into the challenges and strategies on best navigating business interruption through the lens of how unexpected change can be the necessary component to an organization’s innovation and growth. We also discuss the shift in prioritization for many businesses as they strive to bring their employees back— more productive, engaged, and with a higher morale than before. In consideration of these ideas and practices, it should help inform leaders on options and opportunities for stabilization and growth.

    Cindy DeMarco, Manager of Strategic Consulting Services - Insperity


    Cindy DeMarco has over 25 years of leadership and consulting experience in banking, non-profit, construction, legal, education and technology. As a CEO for almost 10 years, she built an e-learning company from the ground up. She’s held leadership positions in Human Resources, Operations and served as a Dean of Business. Her diverse background developed her acumen on the role talent plays in building a strong culture and delivering business performance. With business strategy and organizational communication expertise, sudden business changes are her strong suit. Cindy currently leads a team of consultants with Insperity. She has a doctorate from The George Washington University.


    Ammara Abedi, Project Manager, Research and Analysis - Insperity


    Ammara Abedi is an Organizational Psychologist, who has helped various government and private sector agencies, including Houston and Chicago Police Departments, Habitat for Humanity with their organizational development needs. Ammara is also a certified learning and leadership development professional, who was brought on to coach and develop hi-potential leaders at Shell Oil. Ammara’s career with Insperity began in 2018 as a Training and Coaching consultant for Insperity’s sales teams across the country. A year later, Ammara was promoted and brought on to the Thought Leadership team to partner with the Innovation and Development team within Marketing and Business Development division of Insperity.

He provides global sales strategy and business development advisory. In addition, Nkrumah also takes pride in curating thought leadership forums.     Martin Anderson is a Senior Vice President in Webster Bank’s Middle Market Banking Group where he is focused on building relationships with family owned businesses, family offices and private equity sponsors. He has spent the last 12 years of his 28 year career with Webster Bank. Previously, he was a Senior Relationship Manager at People’s United Bank and his experience includes roles with The Bank of New York, Merrill Lynch and Fleet Financial Group. Martin earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut and received his B.A. from Connecticut College. He lives in Bethel, CT with his wife and son.


    Carrie L. DiLauro, Hamilton Robinson Capital Partners

    Carrie L. DiLauro is the Director of Operations at Hamilton Robinson Capital Partners. She joined HRCP in 2009 and brings over 25 years of experience in global manufacturing and finance. She is responsible for a wide scope of operations management for the firm including investment sourcing, investor relations, marketing, IT, facilities management, human resources, compliance and accounting. Previously, Carrie spent 15 years overseeing worldwide textile production for Jones New York and Baby Togs, Inc. Carrie received a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Harvard University. She is an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), and serves on the Industrial Exchange Advisory Board. 


    Jeff Swiggett, VR Business Sales

    Jeff Swiggett founded VR Business Sales New Haven to bring professional intermediary services to owners of businesses located in Connecticut and Rhode Island through the VR network of 45 offices across North America. The firm represents businesses valued between $1 and $25 million. Jeff has over thirty years of experience with positions in engineering, manufacturing, and marketing, and as co-owner of a manufacturing company, sold in 2007. He holds the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) and the Mergers & Acquisition Master Intermediary (M&AMI) designations.

    Jeff graduated from Colgate University with a degree in Physics and Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    Mark S. Campbell, Managing Director with Scout Valuations, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). He has more than 20 years of experience in business valuations. Mark provides attorneys, high wealth individuals, privately held companies and business owners with valuation services for business planning and succession, shareholder disputes, buy/sell agreements, financial reporting, gifting interests, estate planning, taxation, matrimonial dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and litigation support services.

    Mark received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, JD from Pace Law School, and MBA Taxation from Pace University Lubin School of Business.
