After the frenzy of preparing the business for transfer, completing due diligence and negotiating the transaction, the deal closes. The transaction advisors then move onto the next deal. But what happens next for the owner? What advisors are now part of the owner’s team?

  • What issues, opportunities and challenges arise now that the owner’s balance sheet shifts from business wealth to liquid wealth?
  • What role does charity serve in this “next phase” for the owner?
  • How does the owner’s pre-exit planning influence this outcome?
  • If proper planning wasn’t done before the exit, what options remain?

Understanding life after the deal can bring clarity to full exit experience and help all advisors throughout the process provide better counsel to their clients. By beginning with the end in mind, and bridging the before and after, we not only help the clients avoid regrets, we can help them avoid pulling out of a transaction for fear of the unknown.
