The introduction to our annual case study, Telecom Partners, got off to a great start in our January meeting! It was great to have all those who attended discuss this exit planning case and enthusiastically define the strengths and weaknesses that owner, Tanya Paxton, has to contend with to reap the rewards of a successful sale of her company.
Our February meeting continues with our “expert guidance and advice” to Tanya regarding the valuation of her business. Our two speakers will dive into the concept of value, the difference between an opinion of value and an estimate of value, the value drivers that can enhance value, and how the buyer market views and accesses value.
Understanding the financial goals of the business owner, the net after tax value that the business can provide the owner, and the gap between the two, set the foundation for our work for the rest of this program year, as we support Tanya to achieve her goals via a successful exit from Telecom.

Anne Meltzer, Tucker & Meltzer
A founding member of Tucker & Meltzer, Anne is a CPA/ABV, ASA. She has been providing business valuation services since 2000 and has been involved with business valuations for business acquisition and divestiture, estate and gift tax planning, ESOPs, and buy-sell agreements. Currently, Anne is the Managing Director of the firm.
Ms. Meltzer has over 20 years of accounting, consulting, and valuation experience. Prior to Tucker & Meltzer, Anne worked at American Express Tax and Business Services and its predecessor firm, Wolpoff and Company. There, she was a member of both the Corporate Finance team and the Healthcare Team. Within Corporate Finance, she worked on valuations, forecasts and offering memoranda. Besides her work as the Healthcare Team’s Medicare expert, she was very involved in the Certificate of Need process for many long term care facilities in the early 1990s and was a leading driver of the marketing efforts of the team during her tenure there.
David Farrell, President of Farrell Advisory Inc.
David Farrell, President of Farrell Advisory Inc., has over twenty years of experience in Transaction Advisory Services (buy-side and sell-side due diligence and carve-outs) and Restructuring & Business Reengineering either as a consultant (Partner and Managing Director) at Big 4 (KPMG), international consulting practices (FTI Consulting) and national accounting firms (Cherry Bekaert, a Baker Tilly network firm) or as principal (CFO or Strategic roles) at listed and Management Buy-Out (“MBO”) businesses, covering both the strategic as well as the transactional side of the business, with deep knowledge of the U.S., European and emerging markets.
Farrell Advisory’s primary focus is helping small to medium sized companies and financial institutions deliver shareholder value (i) through M&A/refinancing transactions (e.g., via strategic, pre-sale diagnostic, project management and negotiation, due diligence, merger-integration/carve-outs and M&A dispute service offerings); and (ii) who are not operating optimally via my Office of the Chief Financial Officer and Restructuring & Business Reengineering solutions offerings.
